Magabala Books shortlisted for three 2025 ABIA business awards

Wed, Apr 02, 2025

Magabala Books is over the moon to announce to have been shortlisted for three Australian Book Industry Award (ABIA) business awards.

Magabala Books Publisher Rachel Bin Salleh has been shortlisted for the Commissioning Editor/Publisher of the Year and Magabala Books as a whole has been recognised in the Children’s Publisher of the Year and Small Publisher of the Year.

Magabala Books was awarded the ABIA Small Publisher of the Year award in 2020 and 2024, and has been shortlisted for this award six times overall.

The Australian Book Industry Awards celebrate the achievements of authors and publishers who bring storytelling to life and books into the hands of readers.

Magabala is honoured to be shortlisted alongside creator Andrew Krakouer who sadly passed away over the weekend. His book My Dad's Gone Away that he co-authored with Jacqueline Dinan and illustrated by Paul Seden is shortlisted in the Social Impact category.

Magabala Books joins industry leaders Penguin Random House Australia, Hardie Grant Children's Publishing, Fremantle Press and Rockpool Publishing on the shortlist.

Winners are to be announced on Wednesday 7 May in Naarm (Melbourne).

Congratulations to Rachel and the rest of the Magabala team.
