The Kestin Indigenous Illustrator Award is a national biennial award that identifies new talent in the art of children’s picture book illustration.
Awarded to an Indigenous artist or emerging illustrator, the winner receives $10,000, a professional mentorship and the opportunity to illustrate a children’s picture book by a renowned Indigenous author. The award seeks to address industry demand for Indigenous illustrators, support emerging illustrators to develop their craft and encourage Indigenous artists who haven’t illustrated before.
The award is generously supported by the Kestin Family Foundation.

Magabala Books are proud to partner with Australian Indigenous Coffee (AIC) to launch the inaugural AIC Creative Grants. These grants, worth $10,000 each, are intended to provide valuable time for storytellers, writers, illustrators and artists to work on a current manuscript or illustration portfolio.
The grant is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers and writers working in any genre. The grant is also open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and illustrators working in any medium.

Magabala Books has launched a new Magabala Fellowship. This annual opportunity worth $10,000, is intended to provide valuable time for a mid-career author to work on a current manuscript. The Fellowship is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers and writers who have previously published at least two publications.

Magabala Scholarships support professional development relating to writing, illustration and storytelling, which may result in a manuscript for potential publication. Scholarships are self-customised to meet the development needs of the individual creator.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers, writers, illustrators and artists of any genre are eligible to apply. Scholarship proposals are welcomed from both emerging and established creators.

The Daisy Utemorrah Award is for an unpublished manuscript of junior or YA fiction by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander writer.
Presented within the WA Premier’s Book Awards, this national award recognises excellence in junior and YA fiction and seeks to grow Indigenous writing for younger readers. Generously supported by the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund and the WA Government, the winner receives $15,000 and a publishing contract with Magabala Books.
