Magabala is proud to announce that Homecoming by Elfie Shiosaki and Debesa by Cindy Solonec have been shortlisted for the Premier’s Prize for an Emerging Writer in the WA Premier’s Book Awards.

Both books are personal and tender stories about the authors’ families, sharing moments of truth, heartbreak and resistance.

The Daisy Utemorrah Award shortlist was also announced, with ‘Robert Runs’ by Mariah Sweetman, ‘The Jack Walker Trials: Whistling Spider’ by Sean Owen and ‘That one summer’ by Shirleyann Wilson.

The winners will be announced at an award ceremony at the State Library of Western Australia on 17 June 2022.
