Our Flag, Our Story: The Torres Strait Islander Flag by Bernard Namok Jnr and Thomas Mayo, illustrated by Tori-Jay Mordey, has won the 2024 Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Book category.

Paired with the vibrant illustration work of Tori-Jay Mordey, Our Flag, Our Story: The Torres Strait Islander Flag presents an engaging, personal story that invites young readers to learn about the Torres Strait Islander peoples, place and culture.

The Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards aim to promote children’s books as literacy tools, as well as raising awareness of the role speech pathologists play in helping children develop language and literacy skills.
