Magabala titles shortlisted in the 2021 Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards

On the 17 June the State library of Western Australia announced the shortlist for the Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards, which included three Magabala titles.

Magabala Books is proud to have Willy-willy Wagtail by Helen Milroy and Shirley Purdie: My Story Ngaginybe Jarragbe shortlisted for the Premier’s Writing for Children prize, and A Question of Colour by Pattie Lees and Adam C Lees shortlisted for the Premier’s Emerging Writer Prize.

Magabala Books also announced the shortlist for the Daisy Utemorrah Award, with junior fiction manuscripts 'Home is Calling' by Natasha Leslie and 'Dirran' by Carl Merrison and Hakea Hustler.

The winner of the Daisy Utemorrah Award will receive $15,000 prize money and a publishing contract with Magabala Books. Generously supported by the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund and the WA Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
