Congratulations to Magabala Books Digital & Design Lead Gene Eaton, who has been longlisted for the 2025 Australian Book Designers Association (ABDA) Awards for his cover design of Zac James' play Kangaroo Stew. The nomination comes in the category of Best Designed Literary Fiction/Poetry Cover.

Gene said, "I’m really happy for Zac and Arlie and of course Magabala. Getting to see Zac’s play alongside such incredible Fiction and Poetry titles brings me a lot of joy. And for me, mostly importantly, Zac loved the cover."

Kangaroo Stew is a lively and controversial contribution to the modern Aboriginal theatre movement that gives insight into the life of a modern Aboriginal family living with the mining economy.
