CloseCongratulations to Elfie Shiosaki, her book Homecoming has been shortlisted for the ALS Gold Medal.
The ALS Gold Medal is awarded annually for an outstanding literary work in the preceding calendar year. The Medal was inaugurated by the Australian Literature Society, which was founded in Melbourne in 1899 and incorporated into the Association for the Study of Australian Literature in 1982.
Homecoming is a powerful and tender work of truth-telling and uses family letters, testimonials and conversations to share personal stories of unflinching love and unbearable pain from four generations of Elfie's family.
Homecoming joins a shortlist of six other titles include Wild Abandon by Emily Bitto, Human Looking by Andy Jackson, Pushing Back by John Kinsella, Permafrost by SJ Norman and Triger Warning by Maria Takolander.
The winner will be announced 5 July.
