It was a particularly special night for singer-songwriter and first-time children's author, Lorrae Coffin when she celebrated the launch of her book Free Diving at Goolarri Media's Taste of Broome event on Tuesday, 5th September.Â
Illustrated by Lorrae's niece, Bronwyn Houston, the book is based on Lorrae's song of the same name about the Indigenous men and women who worked in Western Australia's pearling industry as 'free divers' in the late nineteenth century.
Lorrae performed the song with Bronwyn Houstonâs brother, Johnny Falconer on the night, and illustrations from the book were projected behind the musicians.
The book was also launched at the Tasmanian Readers and Writers Festival by childrenâs author and illustrator, Christina Booth on Sunday 17th September.
