Bruce Pascoe's 'Dark Emu' goes international

Thu, Jul 27, 2017

Bruce Pascoe

Magabala Books has sold world rights (ex ANZ) in Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu to Scribe. A US edition will be published by Scribe in May 2018, and a UK edition in June.

Anna Moulton, CEO of Magabala, says, ‘It is a pleasure to be working with Scribe to ensure that Dark Emu achieves the international recognition that it deserves.’

Published in 2014, Dark Emu argues for a reconsideration of the hunter-gatherer tag for pre-colonial Aboriginal Australians and attempts to rebut the colonial myths that have worked to justify dispossion. In 2016, it was awarded the Book of the Year and was co-winner of the inaugural Indigenous Writer's Prize at the NSW Premier's Literary Awards.
