Literary Festival: Ali Cobby Eckermann attends the ' Reaching the World' Summit in November 2012

Hot on the heels of her win at the 2012 Deadly Awards. Ali Cobby Eckermann attended the 'Reaching the world' Summit, Bangkok's first international writers' showcase, in November.

An initiative of the Asia Pacific Writers & Translators (AP Writers) group, the summit was organised to coincide with one of Asia's longest-running and most prestigious literary events, the South-East Asian Writers Awards. As a start-up festival, the summit attracted over 120 authors, translators and publishing professionals from 20 countries across Asia and the Pacific.

Ali was sponsored by the Australian Council for the Arts to participate in an author showcase on international authors and mentors. She also shared her experience of winning a number of literary prizes in a workshop titled 'How Literary Awards Assist Writing Careers'.

Hosted by the Faculty of Arts at Chulangkorn University, the summit explored two themes; the value of literary prizes and the need for quality literary translations to take writers to the global market.
